Volunteer Attorney of the Year awarded to CHELSEA BALDWIN
WALSTEAD MERTSCHING, PS is extremely proud of CHELSEA BALDWIN and the recognition she has received by Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Legal Aid who has bestowed upon her its highest honor of Volunteer Attorney of the Year for 2010. She was the attorney who volunteered the most time and services for low-income residents of Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties, provided 8 family law advice clinics, advising 27 clients and providing consultations to 3 others. In addition, Ms. Baldwin took on 2 full representation cases pro bono. She also volunteers as the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Legal Aid Board President.

RETIREMENT HONORS
Melinda Hochstetler, Legal Assistant
A well deserved congratulations is extended to Melinda who joined the WALSTEAD MERTSCHING PS legal support staff in February 1981 and worked for 30 years as a Legal Assistant to John A. Barlow in the personal injury and insurance law areas of practice until she retired in 2011.
Melinda attended Merrit-Davis School of Commerce in Salem. She worked in legal support services for over 40 years and has experience in a general practice law firm and the court system. Melinda has been a non-lawyer member of Washington State Association for Justice since the early 1980s (formerly known as Washington State Trial Association). She has also been a member of the Cowlitz County Legal Secretaries Association.

OFFICE LOCATION CHANGED IN 2007
In April 2007, WALSTEAD MERTSCHING PS moved to the newly built Civic Center Professional Building located at 1700 Hudson Street, Longview, Washington. Our office, which is accessible by elevator, occupies the entire third floor. As you travel around the Civic Circle you will see the impressive building which is situated between the historic Monticello Hotel and Longview Post Office. Our main entrance and parking lot are located off Hudson Street, with the Post Office to our right, and Key Bank to our left.

Adam C. Guenther
The law firm of WALSTEAD MERTSCHING PS has hired Adam C. Guenther as a new associate.
Guenther's practice consists of general civil litigation including personal injury, labor law, employment law, and contract disputes. He joined WALSTEAD MERTSCHING PS with five years combined experience assisting workers in their efforts to form labor unions and negotiate agreements. Guenther has represented both labor and management at arbitrations concerning issues regarding an existing collective bargaining agreement.
Guenther is a graduate of Eastern Oregon University (magna cum laude) and he received his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2008. Prior to law school Guenther taught English as part of a State Department work study program through the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, Mexico, and is fluent in Spanish.
Guenther and his wife, Faye, have two young children, Cecelia and Pierson.
